| Tuscaloosa returns to drought as rain, cold approach While Tuscaloosa County and much of the state entered 2017 under "exceptional" or "extreme" drought conditions, according to the United States Drought Monitor, the state rebounded as above-average rainfall swept across Alabama this summer as a result of La Nina weather patterns.
